Overview

Langtang Trek, also known as Langtang Valley Trek, is a popular choice among trekkers in Nepal who seek an authentic highland trekking experience. This trek offers expansive views of the Himalayas, an opportunity to explore the wilder parts of the region, and a chance to immerse oneself in the authentic Tamang culture, known for their hospitality. The off-beat route of Langtang Trek is relatively unknown but promises a truly pristine and pure experience for passionate Himalayan journey enthusiasts.

Unfortunately, Langtang Trek was hit by a devastating earthquake in 2015, which destroyed the entire Langtang village, and the landslides and avalanches that followed blocked trekkers from visiting the area for years. This caused an economic crisis for the local people, who are now rebuilding and progressing with more safety and quality, while offering authentic Tamang hospitality once again. Apart from the stunning Himalayan landscapes, Langtang Valley also offers an opportunity to learn about the authentic culture of the Tamang and Sherpa peoples, as well as the ancient Bon Po Religion and Tibetan Buddhism. The Langtang National Park is home to rare flora and fauna, and the trek offers a true experience of the remote and wilder Himalayan trekking.

The journey to Langtang Valley is now easier and shorter, taking only a day by vehicles after the reformation and reconstruction. The trek begins from Syabru Besi, meandering through sub-tropical forests and beautiful meadows, passing by Tamang villages, Buddhist monasteries, and cultural heritages. Visitors can learn more about the norms, values, faith, and beliefs of the Tamang People and their respect towards the mountains and the Himalayas, reflecting the holiness of those snow lands.

Exploring Kyangjin Gumpa allows visitors to appreciate the mysterious and magical creation of nature, and hiking up Kyangjin Ri offers 360-degree views of the entire Langtang valley and a long range of the Langtang Range. Tracing the classic off-the-beat trekking route allows visitors to enjoy a wider and more core Himalayan experience.

Important Note:

Challenges of Langtang valley Trek

Langtang Valley trek is one of the most exciting and adventurous trekking will great entertainment, incredible trekking experience, and awful expression of the Himalayas and the gigantic mountains colonized in the Langtang Range. It’s an absolute off-the-beaten trek with great thrill and a remote high-altitude walk. The main challenges of the Langtang Valley trekking are the certain rugged and rough trekking track, altitude, and uncertain weather. The weather and climates in the Himalayas are always unpredictable and uncertain. The dry-chilling wind also adds some difficulties and challenges during Langtang trekking. With a proper backpack and preplanned arrangement, Langtang is perfect for everyone having an average trekking/walking experience and pace. Be careful while drinking water and having meals to prevent unwanted health problems and issues. Otherwise, Langtang is moderate-level trekking, and beginners with good walking ability can easily compete for the darling trekking.

Best season for trekking in Langtang

For trekking in Langtang valley, Autumn and summer are the best seasons of the year. Especially, the months of august to November and march to June are very perfect. December is the prewinter season and may be suitable, but the early snowfalls may cause difficulties. While June to august is the rainy season and trekking routes will be muddy and even the mountains seem very naked and rock solid.

The autumn offers great mountain views and landscapes and weather and climates used to very clear and days are sunnier with blue sky. And Climates are also very stable and predictable.

Langtang Trekking in Summer is another incredible vacation full of adventure and thrill. In Summer, Langtang changes the cover, and the greeneries add more effects. The lush hills, green pastures/grazing lands and the crystal-like shining dew in the morning, whitey mountains like a non-crafted diamond, chameleonic landscapes, and the marvelous Langtang valley are the major highlights of Langtang trekking in Summer.

Faqs

After the maintenance and renovation of the routes and tracks blocked by the landslide due to the earthquake in 2015, Langtang is now fully open for trekking. The Villages and hotels/ Homestay are rebuilt and being reformed and use to offer great hospitality in typical Tamang style.

Langtang is an off-the-beaten trekking and mostly deep Himalayan region. The routes used to be less crowded, and the villages and settlements are very low and tiny. It is ok to go alone or with a partner, however, the mistrial may cause trouble and even an authorized body recommends not going solo trekking in such an abandoned and deserted area. Trekking with a guide who knows the route very well is very better for trekking safety and security.

Langtang Trek is an exclusive 6-day trek. From Syabru Besi, the trekkers can reach the Kyangjin Gumba on 3rd day of the trek and return in 2 days. Spending a day in Kyangjin Gumba to explore the area, trekkers must schedule 6 days in total for Langtang Trek exclusively.

Moreover, the arrival/ departure, Kathmandu- Syabru Besi-Kathmandu transportation needs additional 4 days. The Travers Nepal also offers the great Kathmandu City tour for better knowledge of Nepalese Cultural Significance and memories of Nepal tour.

There is the off-road/ stoned graveled road to the Langtang Village and Valley and reachable in a day’s travel from Kathmandu, but we recommend taking a walking route/ alternative for a better Langtang Exploration and trekking experience.
